Okay, so, no pictures yet.
I will respectfully wait until all Sock Clubbers have received their last skein before unveiling TurtleDove's newest yarn!
But i will tell you a few crucial things -
First of all, its gorgeous!!  i can't wait to reveal!!!  But, i will demonstrate some restraint.
Secondly, the new yarn is named: Myna.  The Myna bird, (also the Mynah) is part of the Starling family & is originally only found in Southern & Eastern Asia.   It is probably the softest yarn in the TDY family - yup, even softer than Starling.  Believe that!

So, let the anticipation begin.  You'll be able to get your hands on some Myna on the website in the next few weeks & of course at Wooly Bully if you are local to Tallahassee!

I knit this pair of shortie socks for my husband as a birthday gift.  They were created using TDY's Pigeon Sock in the colorway Little Owl.  We have Great Horned Owls in our forest and one in particular that I see perched on the same branch in the evenings, just above Black Creek.  This colorway was created just for him in the hopes that he'll stick to eating the not so cute things & will leave the wild bunnies alone.  I have faith in you little owl, that you will do the right thing! Little Owl is one of 3 new colorways introduced for Fall '09.

You'll also find this one, Rapunzel, a blend of brown, burgandy, red, and gold with a touch of cream & avocado.  I love the warmth of this colorway.  Right now it is available in Pigeon Sock, Heron BFL, and Magpie.

Biancabella is the 3rd colorway in this release, featuring deep purple, violet & pink.  The purple sections are overdyed multiple times for depth & dimension.  It is currently available in the RareBird Lace & will be coming in other bases soon.

Most of these yarns are available in the shop, but the BFL yarns are only available on the etsy site.  enjoy!

Knot Comes Loose / Pigeon Sock
I'm so happy to introduce our very first release in our Collaborations Line from TurtleDove Yarns.

Jim James of My Morning Jacket was kind enough to collaborate with us to create this colorway, a blend of various deep oranges & varying shades of blue from slate gray to nearly black & just a touch of chocolate brown.  The band collectively decided to name this colorway Knot Comes Loose after a song on their album, Z.

When you purchase a skein of Knot Comes Loose from our shop, you will receive a free pattern to make these fingerless mitts, appropriately named "My Morning Mitts."  The pattern includes sizing for mens & womens and will come in the post with your yarn.

We are so happy with this first installment of our Collaborations Line.  Jim James was especially gracious in his participation & we are super appreciative.  Big Thanks to the entire My Morning Jacket band for being a part of this project.

No pictures just yet.  I am just reporting that Jim James has made the final decisions regarding the My Morning Jacket colorway!  (no hints, but i'm telling you its really great, gender neutral & very wearable.)
The band has agreed upon a name for the colorway, giving a healthy nod at their album, Z.
I am hard at work creating the skeins which have been pre-ordered & once they are ready, I will release images of the final product & make a limited number of them available to the knitting public.
(if you have not pre-ordered, feel free to do so now).
yea!!!

Also, a shop update will be occurring on myhedgehogknits.com AND our etsy shop - turtledoveyarns.etsy.com on Thursday, July 16th.  see you there.

Now you can find lots of TurtleDove Yarns at Wooly Bully in Tallahassee, FL.  After hosting our debut there 2 weeks ago the shop has decided to carry TDY full time.  We are honored & excited to be able to offer our wares to our very own local community at our, of course, all time favorite LYS.
Thanks Hannah!!

So, if you are in the area, take the opportunity to stop in & fondle some of our yarns including our much loved DK weight, Chickadee - a blend of bamboo, silk & merino.  You'll also find our Pigeon Sock, Pigeon w/Bamboo Sock and our Magpie sock in lots of colorways.

Our RareBird Lace sold out completely at our show, so it is coming soon & with gorgeous new colorways.

enjoy!

Yep, I finally got my hands back in the dye pot & worked up two brand new colorways in celebration of our brand new yarn!

Blackbird is a 100% Superwash Merino Fingering weight yarn with a firm twist for stitch definition and a soft hand for pure loveliness.  Perfect for tanks, sweaters, socks, shawls, scarves, children's items, & basically anything you want to be able to toss in the machine without worry.

This brand new colorway, Kerala (largest producer of spice in India) is a keeper!  I LOVE these colors!  There are so many little tidbits that come through.  Burgundy, russet, eggplant, gold, ruby, amber, and emerald, all stir-up to create this gorgeous skein of yarn!  I can't wait to knit with it myself!
